Eau Claire County is seeking a Juvenile Detention Center Worker to supervise youth in secure detention and assist in providing care services. The role emphasizes maintaining a safe environment and enforcing policies in accordance with applicable laws.

Responsibilities include observation, documentation, health and recreational provision, transport to court, and coordination of daily activities with education and community programs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years’ experience caring for juveniles in justice, group home, shelter, or foster care.
• Two years’ experience within the juvenile justice system.
• Post-high school study in social work/psychology/sociology or related field; 18+; background checks required.
• Pre-hire drug/alcohol testing; physical and audiogram; fingerprinting; driver eligibility.
• Complete Basic Juvenile Detention Officer Training within 12 months; 24 hours annual recertification.

Responsibilities

• Oversee juveniles in secure detention; enforce center policies.
• Observe and document behavior; screen for abuse or safety risks.
• Record admissions, discharges, and required information.
• Assess dangerous situations and respond to emergencies.
• Provide health, safety, and recreational services; arrange education and transport.
• Conduct case-management visits and coordinate daily activities.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Education
