Job summary

Miami County's West Central Juvenile Detention Facility seeks a dedicated intake and detention coordinator to oversee daily operations, ensure youth safety, and guide youth through routines and activities.

You will manage intake and release, supervise daily youth activities including hygiene, education, recreation, meals, and family communication, and prepare required reports, with comprehensive training provided and adherence to Ohio statutes and ACA standards.

Qualifications

• Completion of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must be 21 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license and proof of motor vehicle insurance.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background investigation, including fingerprint analysis.
• Must complete and maintain training per Ohio Revised Code 5139-37-06.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the intake, release and daily observation of youth who are placed in the facility via a court order or pursuant to the laws of arrest.
• Oversee daily youth activity including personal hygiene, education, physical education, recreation, communication with parents, and escort to meals.
• Work from policies using a wide range of procedures; communicate with and facilitate youth in a secure environment under supervision.
• Prepare and submit a wide range of reports and documents to internal and outside agencies; handle confidential information.
