The Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking a DanceInstructor to lead sports programs with a strong emphasis on safety and positive coaching. The role involves delivering progressive or competitive curricula, supporting participants, and upholding YMCA values within a dynamic team.

Requirements include some college, 3–5 years of specialized sport experience, and the ability to work with diverse groups while maintaining a constructive coaching style.

Qualifications

• Some college or equivalent.
• 3–5 years specialized sport experience.
• Ability to coach with a positive style and ensure safety.
• Ability to concentrate and attend activities during classes.
• Ability to spot participants and support skill development.

Responsibilities

• Conduct YMCA sports program instruction per program standards.
• Ensure adherence to progressive or competitive standards and quality.
• Provide a safe environment to learn the YMCA sports curriculum.
• Encourage staff and students; create an enjoyable YMCA experience.
• Reinforce YMCA values through examples of participant behavior.
• Arrive 15 minutes early; coordinate equipment and prep for class.
• Ensure participants exit the facility and the space is clean.
• Participate as part of the YMCA staff team in a safe environment.
• Provide excellent service to members and participants.
• Communicate YMCA rules and maintain visibility and accessibility.
• Manage participant behavior with supervision and parents.
• Complete timely incident reports to director/supervisor.
• Follow the schedule and apply specialized sport skills in lessons.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings; perform other duties.
