Job summary

Willow Grove YMCA in Hatboro, PA is seeking a Youth Dance Instructor with strong training to guide students through progressive dance programs and competitive pathways. You will provide instruction, support, and safe supervision to participants during class.

Responsibilities include maintaining safety, upholding YMCA rules, arriving early, coordinating with staff, and reinforcing YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility throughout the program.

Qualifications

• Some college or equivalent.
• 3-5 years in Dance training.
• Ability to work with others with a positive coaching style.
• Ability to sustain concentration and attention.
• Ability to spot participants during skills with understanding of athlete development.

Responsibilities

• Conduct YMCA Sports Program instruction per standards.
• Ensure adherence to progressive or competitive standards and quality.
• Provide a safe learning environment for the curriculum.
• Encourage staff and students to enjoy YMCA.
• Reinforce the YMCA values through example and recognition.
• Arrive at least 15 minutes early and inform supervisor at least 24 hours prior of conflicts.
• Ensure participants exit and the facility is left clean and orderly.
• Participate as part of the YMCA staff team.
• Provide excellent service to members and participants.
• Communicate YMCA rules and be accessible and identifiable.
• Manage participant behavior with supervision and parents.
• Complete timely incident reports to the director/supervisor.
• Follow schedule and knowledge of specialized sport skills to implement lessons.
• Follow positive support techniques to develop gymnast’s skills.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
