Job summary

NIA Community Services Network, Inc. in Staten Island, NY is seeking a part-time Teacher/Instructor to plan and lead structured activities in a specific area, with support from a Group Leader.

You will be the lead staff member responsible for behavior management and classroom maintenance, working in partnership with colleagues. The role requires at least 1 year of teaching or group activity experience, a high school diploma, and a willingness to engage bilingual participants.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of prior experience teaching or facilitating group activities with students.
• High school diploma required.
• College coursework in education, youth development is expected.
• Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Report all concerns regarding participant well-being to the immediate supervisor by day’s end.
• Seek supervisor or emergency assistance if a participant is injured.
• Ensure proper supervision of assigned participants at all times.
• Verify participant identity before dismissing to a guardian listed on enrollment form.
• Submit lesson plans for each activity by the due date and conduct activity according to approved plans.
• Submit NIA material requests for approval by supervisor.
• Include Group Leader in activity planning, including classroom management.
• Submit a plan for culminating activity to be showcased at the program culminating event.
• Actively assist with all activities being led by specialists, subcontractors, and/or colleagues.
• Perform assigned activity, transition, snack and dismissal.
• Use positive behavior management with assigned group at all times.
• Maintain group organization and manage group effectively.
