Job summary

Good Shepherd Services, Ltd. is seeking a Dance & Cheerleading Instructor to teach and facilitate youth-centered classes in Brooklyn. You will develop weekly classes, choreograph routines, and follow a standard curriculum.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience and/or training relevant to the position.
• Some college, experience with adolescents and teaching/coaching youth encouraged.
• Flexibility, creativity, and enthusiasm for young people.
• Excellent planning, organization and time management.
• Ability to engage youth while setting structure and limits in groups.
• Energetic, motivated self-starter and team player.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Commitment to strength-based, youth and family development and trauma-informed perspective.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and develop age- and skill-appropriate curriculum, lesson plans and activities.
• Work with program participants to develop artistic, educational, and leadership potential.
• Pre-planning of activity; provide structure, purpose, and closing rituals.
• Manage uniforms and participant gear.
• Facilitate scaffolded activities based on student interests to promote teamwork and mastery.
• Facilitate activities in community hour and participate in staff-led activities.
• Foster a youth development, strength-based environment with belonging and safety.
• Engage and facilitate group conversations, track and support academic success.
• Attend and participate in staff meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
