Job summary

Lutheran Social Services of WI & Upper MI is hiring a Youth Counselor for Homme Youth and Family Programs. The role is full-time on the 2nd shift, 2 PM to 10 PM, with pay of $18.50/hr on weekdays and $20.50/hr on weekends, plus a 4-day work week.

You will work with male residents aged 10–15, serving as a positive role model and advocate. You’ll document observations, support daily living activities, escort clients to activities, prepare meals, and communicate with parents, therapists, and

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services preferred.
  • 1+ year experience in Human Services, crisis management.
  • Mandt/CPI training or ability to complete within 90 days.

What You’ll Do

As a Youth Counselor, you’ll work directly with residents (primarily males ages 10–15), serving as a positive role model and advocate. Responsibilities include:

Maintaining sight and sound supervision

Recording observations and daily documentation

Supporting personal hygiene and safe living spaces

Transporting and escorting clients to activities and appointments

Preparing meals and supervising mealtimes

Communicating updates to parents, therapists, and professionals

Responding appropriately in times of crisis

Qualifications

Preferred:Bachelor’s degree in Human Services (Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Law Enforcement, or related field)

Experience:1+ year in Human Services, crisis management, Mandt/CPI training (or ability to complete within 90 days)
