Job summary

Ohio Department of Youth Services in Circleville, OH, is seeking a Juvenile Correctional Officer to oversee facility functions and mentor youth in our care. This role requires strong leadership with a passion to habilitate youth and is a full-time opportunity within the Circleville Juvenile Correctional Facility.

The position involves safety, security, and direct interaction with youth, plus documentation and coordination with leadership.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; valid driver’s license; must be 21 years of age at time of application.
• Must successfully complete Juvenile Correctional Officer assessment.
• Probationary period is 365 days.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety, security, custodial care, and surveillance of assigned youth.
• Observe, intervene, and de-escalate youth behavior and conflicts using provided training.
• Manage and maintain security and positive interaction during and after family visits.
• Complete all required documents (reports, logs, evaluations, etc.).
• Oversee movement on facility grounds and during outside trips.
• Monitor and instruct youth on general housekeeping duties.
• Maintain awareness of unusual behavior and crisis situations.
• Collaborate and provide information to division leadership.
