Job summary

MobilizeGreen seeks a Youth Conservation Crew Leader to co‑lead high school youths on conservation projects, environmental education, and leadership development in a two‑session summer program. You will supervise a crew of 5–6, help plan activities, and serve as on‑site representative for MobilizeGreen and partners.

Position runs late May through early August 2027 in California or Minnesota forests, with a training period and a weekly $800 living stipend plus meals, housing, and travel support.

Qualifications

• Youth/Young Adult Programming: experience with youth ages 14–18 as a teacher, mentor, leader, counselor, or coach.
• Teaching/Leadership: experience in formal or informal education; ability to organize and teach lessons, motivate students, and provide constructive feedback.
• Outdoor Education/Skills: experience with outdoor activities, hiking, camping, safety awareness, Leave No Trace.
• Conservation Project Skills: experience in service project management, conservation or trail projects, and proper hand tool usage.
• First Aid/CPR Certification: current or willingness to obtain before start (included in MobilizeGreen training).
• A valid driver’s license with no major violations in past 3 years.
• Background check and pre-employment drug screening required.
• Must be 21 or older; must be a U.S. citizen or legally able to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Supervise crew members during all program activities and housing.
• Provide a safe environment in accordance with MobilizeGreen standards and COVID policies.
• Work with the co‑leader to manage group dynamics of the crew.
• Lead environmental education and team-building lessons during off-project days.
• Participate in rotating overnight on-call duty.
• Train and supervise crew members in safe use of tools and all service project aspects.
• Coordinate with Project Leader and USDA Forest Service staff on logistics and schedules.
• Manage administrative tasks including paperwork, daily logs, and final report.
