Job summary

State of Maryland's Department of Juvenile Services is seeking a Case Management Specialist I to develop and implement service plans for youths deemed delinquent by the juvenile court. The role focuses on risk assessment, supervising youths, and coordinating treatment and services to support transition to adulthood.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree and allows flexible hours including nights/weekends; telework may be involved depending on needs. Two positions available in Leonardtown, MD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.
• An AA in social/behavioral sciences or criminal justice with 2 years direct youth services experience can substitute.
• Armed Forces commissioned officer experience can substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Assess the risk posed by a youth’s behavior to the public and provide supervision to enhance community safety.
• Oversight of sanctions, restitution, community service, and filing petitions for Revocation of Probation when needed.
• Determine treatment and rehabilitative needs and coordinate delivery of services for youth to transition to adulthood.
• Report progress or ongoing needs to the juvenile court in writing and orally.
• Work schedule may include non-traditional hours and telework protocols.

Education

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

Associate of Arts degree in social or behavioral sciences or criminal justice + 2 years direct services experience

U.S. Armed Forces commissioned officer experience in Social Services fields (year-for-year substitution)
