The Youth Care Worker (YCW) provides direct supervision and care for children in a VQ residential setting. This role is responsible for maintaining a safe environment that promotes learning and behavioral management in accordance with VQ, local, state, and federal policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Provide direct supervision of children, maintaining line of sight at all times.
- Oversee recreation, mealtime, leisure, and play activities.
- Build positive relationships with youth, serving as a role model and creating a trauma-informed, caring environment.
- Teach, coach, and supervise children in daily living activities, including routines, hygiene, housekeeping, meals, sports, academics, and extracurricular activities both on and off the facility.
- Interact with children during games and recreational activities.
- Conduct orientation, intake, and property inventory upon child's arrival, including paperwork and program overview.
- Provide basic needs such as clothing, hygiene products, and meals when necessary.
- Assist in planning educational events, celebrations, outings, and school transportation.
- Support children with medical, dental, and legal appointments.
- Assist with child reunifications.
- Administer medications as prescribed and over-the-counter.
