Job summary

State of Georgia, Savannah, GA, seeks a Juvenile Correctional Lieutenant at Savannah RYDC. This role supervises staff, ensures custody and security of youth, and enforces facility policies while modeling pro-social behavior and providing a safe, therapeutic environment.

Primary duties include overseeing youth welfare, administrative tasks, and staff training. Requires HS diploma/GED, POST certification within six months, and relevant experience. Eligible benefits apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and one year of experience as a Juvenile Correctional Officer Sergeant (PSP223) or equivalent.
• Must possess and maintain State of Georgia POST certification within the first six months of employment.
• One or more years of college may be preferred. Military experience at E-5 or higher can be considered.

Responsibilities

• Custody, security, and care of youth in accordance with DJJ policies and procedures.
• Maintain order and discipline through active supervision and intervention.
• Provide direct support, guidance, and structure for detained youth focusing on safety and rehabilitation.
• Supervise and plan work of assigned staff.
• Complete administrative paperwork and maintain records.
