Job summary

Genesee County Juvenile Justice Center in Michigan seeks staff to supervise and guide neglected and delinquent youths residing at the center. You will process admissions, enforce rules, and help maintain safety and order within the facility.

Responsibilities include overseeing groups, participating in care decisions, assisting with daily routines, and providing support during meals, school activities, and recreational periods. Annual training in restraints is required.

Qualifications

• Six0 (60) semester hours of college completed.
• Alternate path: 30 semester hours plus 1 year in a youth-care or correctional setting.
• Alternate path: high school diploma/equivalent plus 2 years in a youth-care or correctional facility.

Responsibilities

• Supervise resident groups and individuals to ensure health, safety and security of residents and staff.
• Participate in team discussions and decisions about client care.
• Admit residents and orient them to rules and routines.
• Discipline residents using prescribed procedures.
• Instruct and assist residents in personal hygiene, dress and grooming.
• Escort residents to meals, school and events on time.
• Maintain a safe environment with appropriate security procedures.
• Assist in facilitating group meetings and recreational activities.
• Observe for illness or distress and report as needed.
• Assist in searches for escapees/runaways when directed and restrain as needed.
