Job summary

Genesee County Juvenile Justice Center is seeking personnel to supervise and guide neglected and delinquent youths in the residence facility. You will process admissions and releases, work under supervision, and support daily operations within a secure environment.

The role involves enforcing rules, ensuring safety, assisting with personal care, and directing youth activities. A valid Michigan driver’s license and restraint training are required annually to maintain compliance and safety

Qualifications

• 60 semester hours of college or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Alternative: 30 college hours plus 1 year in a youth care or correctional setting.
• High school diploma plus 2 years in a youth care or correctional environment.
• Annual physical restraint training and valid Michigan driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Supervises resident groups or individuals to ensure safety of residents and staff.
• Participates in team discussions and decisions related to client care.
• Admits residents and orients them to rules and routines.
• Disciplines residents using prescribed procedures.
• Assists with personal hygiene, dress and grooming.
• escorts residents to meals, school and events on time.
• Maintains a secure environment using security systems.
• Facilitates resident group meetings and recreational activities.
• Observes residents for illness or distress and reports as needed.
• Assists in searches and restrains to prevent escapes when directed.
• Prepares records and reports using computer/word processing.
• Administers medicine and special care as instructed.
• Performs simple clerical duties and serves meals when required.
