Job summary

Nexus Family Healing – Austin campus is seeking a resilient Youth Care Professional for temporary relief to support youth in our therapeutic program. You will provide guidance and enforce daily living activities using trauma-informed practices in a safe environment, while meeting each client’s needs.

The role involves mentoring, monitoring daily activities, and collaborating with staff to implement schedules, school and therapy sessions, and family visits.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• Desire to work in the human services field & caring for at-risk youth.
• Ability to build strong relationships with diverse individuals or communities and understand their unique needs and challenges.
• Open to meeting the cultural needs of individuals or communities, considering factors such as language, traditions, and values.
• Must successfully pass a MN criminal background check.
• Successfully participate and complete a two-day Handle with Care training and exam.

Responsibilities

• Engage with clients and provide safe interactions, mentorship and supervision of daily activities per guidelines.
• Assist with activities of daily living: personal hygiene, grooming, living areas, and laundry.
• Ensure adherence to daily schedules including school, therapy, group sessions, appointments, and family visits.
• Model empathy, honesty, and respect in interactions with staff and clients.
• Contribute to daily scheduling, treatment planning, guidance plans, and safety protocols.
• Promote inclusivity regarding gender, race, age, culture, religion, and disability.
• Advocate for clients' needs.
• Engage in therapeutic interventions within treatment parameters while maintaining boundaries.
• Follow the Empowering Restorative Engagement Model (ERE model) and guide staff in safety planning.
• Maintain client confidentiality and complete documentation accurately.
