What You’ll Do
As a Youth Behavioral Specialist, you will:
- Maintain safety and security of residents and facility.
- Maintain compliance with staffing ratios at all times, including mandated overtime, moving to other units as requested, and attending/participating in all clinical/case management group sessions.
- Utilize Electronic Health Records (EHR) to document resident behaviors, visitation safety checks, and any applicable services.
- Complete daily shift notes, activity notes, and communication logs, including justification for any behavioral interventions.
- Supervise residents while following program policies and assuring compliance with Sanctuary principles.
- Actively supervise residents during recreational activities and provide instruction when necessary.
- Supervise residents during academic instruction, handling behavioral issues.
- Closely supervise residents while in the community, prioritizing community safety at all times.
- Implement behavior modification program (point system) in accordance with program policies, philosophy, and treatment plans.
- Overnight shift duties include performing 15 minute checks on all residents, paperwork, and cleaning and organizing unit areas.
- Ensure safe evacuation of residents during emergencies and fire drills.
- Record reports such as Incident Reports and Restrictive Procedure Reports in a professional and timely manner.
- Plan and implement organized activities for the residents.
- Physically restrain residents (only when necessary to ensure safety) following Safe Crisis Management training in accordance with program policies.
- Oversee resident health and hygiene.
- Complete room and personal searches in accordance with program policies, documenting all accordingly.
- Attend all required meetings and trainings.
- Work on all residential units and educational placements.
- Maintain building cleanliness as needed such as taking out unit trash and using towels/sheets for laundry, performing light maintenance and building improvements, primarily during overnight shifts.
- Transport clients in company vehicles, as needed.
- Professionally represent agency.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
Third Shift YBS Additional Responsibilities
- Complete bed checks at minimum every 15 minutes using documentation.
- Assist the third shift supervisor with preparing for new admissions.
- Assist the third shift supervisor with preparing for client birthdays.
- Ensure staff office is organized daily.
- Inventory unit supplies regularly and alert third shift supervisor of needed items.
- Update whiteboards with daily points changes.

Qualifications
Required:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, criminal justice, psychology, or any human services field (highly preferred).
- Associate’s degree with at least one year of experience working with youth (accepted).
- High school diploma or GED with one year of experience working with youth (accepted).
- Must pass all pre-employment physical, drug screening, and background checks (Child, Criminal, FBI, and DMV).
- Must pass both federal and state background checks which screen for crimes including, but not limited to, drug-related crimes, violent crimes, sexual abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, and repeated misdemeanors.
- Ability to demonstrate basic oral, written, and verbal communication.
- Must attend all required trainings followed by shadowing prior to working on the unit.
- Ability to work effectively among various levels of behaviors and maintain an atmosphere of safety, support, and guidance to ensure a positive environment.

- Full-Time
- 3rd Shift – 10:00pm-6:00am
- All shift’s include weekends (discussed during interview)
Physical Requirements
- The employee must stand, walk, run, use hands and arms.
- The employee must have the physical ability to restrain a resident while utilizing the tenets of Safe Crisis Management training.
- The employee must be able to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk, hear, see, taste, and smell.
