Job summary

The City of Redmond is seeking a Gym Supervisor for seasonal supplemental work at the Redmond Senior and Community Center and other facilities. The role supports youth and adult leagues, day camps, and special events, with a schedule not exceeding 29 hours per week and up to 1,040 hours per year.

Shifts vary, Saturdays required from November through March; training dates in November apply. Requires background check, valid WA driver’s license, and First Aid/ CPR within two months of hire.

Qualifications

• Background check required.
• Experience in a variety of recreational activities and/or sports is preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One to two years of applicable experience.
• Minimum age 16.
• First Aid and CPR within two months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepares facilities for leagues/programs; oversee day camps as applicable.
• Open/close facilities when needed.
• Distribute/collect equipment.
• Maintain communication documentation, manage other paperwork.
• Schedule staff and volunteers, assist with training, cover staff breaks.
• Organize supplies.
• Plan daily events; may provide score keeping and/or officiating for activities and events.
• Communicate with and work with players and volunteer coaches on game days.
• Handle conflicts that may come up.
• Arrive on time for your shift.
• Interact positively with other officials and staff. Promote a positive sportsmanship environment.

The Gym Supervisor provides general oversight and supervision of activities and/or facilities within the Parks & Recreation division. This may include youth and adult sports leagues and programs, day camps, or other special events.

Assignment Duration

This is a seasonal supplemental assignment. Seasonal employees are employed for no more than 6 months within a defined season. The Winter Activities Season starts on October 15, 2026, and ends on April 15, 2027.
Hours/Schedule: The schedule for this role will vary. The position is limited to a maximum of 29 hours per week and no more than 1,040 hours per year. Work schedules may vary from week to week. Must be available on Saturdays (between 8am – 7pm) from November through March. Additional training and onboarding will be required on select dates in November. Additional hours may be available on weekdays and nights.

Education and Experience:

• General knowledge of a variety of recreational activities and/or sports


• Successful passing of a required background check


• High school diploma or equivalent preferred


• One to two years of applicable experience


• Minimum age 16

Licenses and Certifications:

• Valid WA State Driver's license required. Accommodations for lack of driver's license may be considered depending on the assignment or circumstances.


• Must have or obtain First Aid and CPR within two months of hire
