Job summary

New York Empire Baseball is seeking an Assistant Coach to provide high-quality instruction across after-school programs, camps, and travel practices.

You will support lead coaches, prepare sessions with attention to detail, and uphold a positive, safe, and inspiring environment for players and families at The Hub indoor facility.

Role Overview

Assistant Coaches are foundational members of the New York Empire Baseball coaching team, responsible for providing high-quality instruction and supporting program execution across after-school programs, camps, club league games, training classes, and travel team practices, training, and games. Assistant Coaches model New York Empire Baseball’s values on- and off-the-field, create a positive, engaging, and inspiring experience for our players and families, and consistently execute training plans developed by our program and team leadership. Our Coaches have the most important responsibilities in our Organization - to inform, instruct, inspire, prepare, and motivate our ballplayers on-the-field and in our world class, high-tech indoor facility, The Hub.

This role is ideal for coaches who are passionate about teaching, eager to learn New York Empire Baseball’s methods, and developing toward greater leadership responsibility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality instruction that aligns with New York Empire Baseball’s methods, models, and developmental philosophy, and supports long-term athletic development.
  • Support Lead and Senior/Head Coaches during classes, practices, programs, and games.
  • Prepare for and execute assigned sessions, practices, and programs with discipline, organization, and meticulous attention to detail (in roles that include field support, dugout management, player management, and other on-field and off-the-field coaching and organizational responsibilities).
  • Maintain a safe, positive, and professional, and inspiring environment for players, families, and staff at all times.
  • Always communicate respectfully, clearly, and inspirationally with players and parents.
  • Engage in required training, preparation, and development activities (including our online training system, videos, meetings, and shadowing/mentorship).
  • Maintain equipment, facilities, and professional standards at all times.
EXPECTATIONS FOR SUCCESS
  • Consistently prepared and early for all assigned sessions / schedules.
  • Demonstrates strong communication, energy, and engagement with young athletes.
  • Open to feedback and committed to continuous improvement.
  • Executes training and program plans with discipline and attention to detail.
  • Represents New York Empire Baseball culture, values, and standards in every interaction.
