Job summary

Boys & Girls Club Of Greater Northwest Indiana seeks a Youth Development Professional – Arts Programming for the Portage Club in Portage, IN. This part-time role designs, implements, and supervises arts programs across BGCA pillars to engage youth in creative expression.

Your schedule is 2pm to 7pm Monday-Thursday and 2pm to 6pm Friday, up to 29 hours per week, with hands-on, project-based learning and safety as priorities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Experience with youth, preferably in arts, education, or creative programming.
• Knowledge of youth development principles; BGCA experience preferred.
• Strong arts skills in one or more disciplines (visual, digital, literary, performing, or applied).
• Ability to plan and facilitate engaging, developmentally appropriate arts programming.
• Ability to motivate youth, manage behavior, and foster a positive learning environment.
• Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.
• CPR and First Aid certification required (or ability to obtain).
• Authorized to work in the US.
• Satisfactory background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Design, plan, and implement engaging, grant-aligned arts programs across BGCA pillars.
• Ensure programming aligns with grant goals, outcomes, and reporting requirements.
• Create learning experiences across three levels: Exposure, Creative Exploration & Skill-Building, Demonstration.
• Build strong relationships with members and serve as a mentor and role model.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, and inspiring art space; monitor inventory and supplies.
• Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and partners; lead arts-related field trips and events.
