Job summary

Hospice Alliance is seeking a part-time Certified Nursing Assistant to provide compassionate patient care in home and facility settings within our service area. Core hours are 6am to 10am, Monday through Friday, with optional weekend or school-break shifts as available.

You will assist patients with daily living activities, hygiene, and emotional support, collaborating with RNs and the care team to improve quality of life for terminally ill individuals. CPR certification is required.

Qualifications

• Must be a participant in the High School Youth Apprenticeship Program.
• Must have current Wisconsin Nursing Assistant certification.
• Requires valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
• Satisfactory completion of caregiver and criminal background and drug screening.
• CPR certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Administers patient care under the direction of the RN and as instructed by the CNA care plan.
• Reports changes in the client’s condition and/or needs to the RN Case Manager.
• Provides personal care, including bathing, grooming, skin and nail care, oral hygiene, shaving, dressing.
• Performs household tasks essential to health care, such as meal preparation, feeding, laundry, and light housekeeping.
• Accurately documents provided cares and submits care records per Hospice Alliance policy.
• Attends CNA in-services to maintain required CE hours.
• Communicates effectively with all members of the interdisciplinary team.
• Other duties as assigned.

Hours: Core work hours for this position are 6am to 10am, Monday to Friday. There is the ability to work additional hours as available on weekends and school breaks.

Summary

Hospice Alliance Certified Nursing Assistants provide essential support, assisting patients with daily living tasks, personal hygiene, and emotional comfort. They work collaboratively with nurses and healthcare providers to enhance the quality of life for terminally ill patients.

Physical Demands

This job requires an employee to stand, talk and hear. There is frequent standing and walking, and occasionally a CNA is required to sit, bend, kneel, stoop or crouch. This position requires frequent use of hands and fingers and may require reaching in front or above shoulders, feeling or grasping. The employee will frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally move 100 pounds.

Work Environment

Work is performed in the field in patient homes, such as assisted living and skilled nursing facilities or any other place a patient calls home located within the Hospice Alliance service area and, occasionally, the Hospice Alliance residential facility. There is a potential for exposure to animals, smoke, unpleasant odors and a vulnerability to contagious diseases or infections. This is a field position and requires driving to within our service area which may present danger in inclement weather.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Attends CNA in‑services to ensure compliance with the state requirement of 12 continuous education hours per year.
• Communicate effectively with all members of the interdisciplinary team.
• Other duties as assigned.
