Overview

Miller Electric, an ITW company, is looking for a Youth Apprentice to join our Sheet Metal Department in the Components Division in Appleton, Wisconsin. This apprenticeship provides hands-on experience working alongside skilled testers and assemblers in a team-oriented environment. We are seeking a motivated team player who is eager to learn and grow.

Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate equipment within the department, including turrets, punching machines, presses, press brakes, lasers, shears, pemnutter, and related machinery.
  • Read blueprints and use measuring tools.
  • Collaborate as a team member, be safety-conscious, and communicate effectively. Willingness to cross-train in all areas of the department on a regular basis.
  • Work overtime (10–12 hours) when needed.
  • Conduct regular inspection of production to ensure quality and be willing to cross-train within other areas of Mechanical Components.
Essential Functions
  • Ability to set up and run turrets, punching machines, presses, press brakes, lasers, shears, and pemnutter.
  • Read blueprints and use measuring tools.
  • Team player, self-starter, safety conscious, good communication skills, mechanically inclined, and responsible for material ordering and scheduling of orders.
  • Stand for up to 12 hours and lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly.
  • Adapt to a fast-paced work environment with minimal training.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Sheet metal experience preferred (at least 2 years).
Minimum Qualifications
  • Good communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Good eyesight and hand dexterity.
  • Willingness to cross-train.
  • 1 year of mechanics and electronics experience.
  • Ability to comprehend assembly drawings and bills of material; follow setup directions and understand product specifications.
  • Stand for up to 12 hours a day and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Overtime required.
