Job summary

ITW Welding in Appleton, WI seeks a Fabrication Support (Painter) to operate powder paint booths, perform maintenance, inspect finishes, and support production flow. You will cross-train in the Paint Department, assist in related tasks, and focus on safety and quality standards.

Ideal candidates are mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced production environment while standing long hours and lifting up to 50 lbs. Training to advance toward Fabricator is available.

Qualifications

  • Highschool Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Reliable, self-motivated and team-oriented with strong communication.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and take initiative.
  • Mechanically inclined with the ability to operate and troubleshoot equipment.
  • Must be able to stand long shifts and lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and run powder paint booths and systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on paint booths and related equipment.
  • Troubleshoot paint system issues during operation.
  • Inspect finishes to meet standards and customer expectations.
  • Move materials and load/unload parts on the paint line.
  • Cross-train in all Paint Department areas and assist as needed.
  • Receive training in painting techniques and processes.
  • Maintain safety and quality records and documentation.

BASIC DESCRIPTION:

Miller Electric is seeking Fabrication Support (Painter) to join the Components Division team. The successful candidate will support manufacturing operations while ensuring product quality and efficiency. This fast-paced, quality-focused role includes responsibilities such as operating and maintaining our powder paint booths and systems, ensuring high-quality finishes that meet both company standards and customer expectations, PEM nut/weld nut installation, manual material movement, running gear, and other support tasks throughout the shift. We are looking for an individual who will demonstrate a safety-first mentality, regularly practice effective communication within a team environment, and have an interest in moving towards a Fabricator role. Individuals interested in advancing to a Fabricator role may have the opportunity to participate in the Internal Fabrication Training Program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Set up and run powder paint booths and paint systems.
  • Perform regular preventative maintenance on paint booths and related equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with the paint system during operation.
  • Inspect product finishes to ensure they meet company standards and customer expectations.
  • Clean and maintain painting equipment, booths, and work area on a daily basis.
  • Load and unload parts on the paint line.
  • Perform quality checks and package products according to customer requirements.
  • Crosstrain in all areas of the Paint Department.
  • Assist in other areas of the department as needed.
  • Install PEM nuts and weld nuts onto components, ensuring proper placement and secure attachment. No setup required.
  • Move materials as needed to support production flow.
  • Receive training in painting techniques and processes.
  • Proven safety and quality record.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned to support operations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Highschool Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and team-oriented with strong communication skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Mechanically inclined with the ability to operate and troubleshoot equipment.
  • Able to manage time efficiently and understand order scheduling and completion.
  • Innovative mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Mechanically inclined.

  • Must be able to stand for up to 12 hours a day and lift up to 50 lbs.
