Job summary

Friends of the Children Montana is hiring an Academic Achievement Specialist to nurture long-term relationships with enrolled youth and provide focused academic support during the school year, after school, and summers.

You will collaborate with teachers, mentors, and families to create individualized learning plans, manage assessments, and promote literacy and math through engaging activities and community-based learning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education, mental health, social services or youth development related field
• Be culturally competent and trauma informed
• Experience with vulnerable children or families
• Superior scheduling and time management skills
• Data entry and database management experience
• Experience in a growing non-profit

Responsibilities

• Manage a roster of 10-12 students, meeting for 45-60 minutes twice weekly across 3-4 cycles
• Coordinate annual program-wide assessments in spring and during cycles
• Develop individualized learning plans with mentors and teachers
• Collect, organize, and report assessment data to demonstrate impact
• Promote literacy and math through reading, library outings, and homework support
• Foster prosocial behavior and strong learning habits among youth
• Collaborate with schools to provide regular learning tutorials
• Lead STEAM and enrichment activities to spark future interests
• Maintain a 40-hour work schedule including afternoons and evenings
• Attend team meetings and support executive team with information
