Job summary

Boston School of Music Arts is seeking an energetic Music Teacher for a part-time position. You will lead small groups of children ages 2-6 using engaging, developmentally appropriate music programs to inspire learning and creativity.

The ideal candidate has experience teaching in early childhood settings, can play piano or guitar and sing, and will follow ready-made lesson plans while bringing creativity to each class. A Bachelor’s in Music or Musical Theater is preferred.

Qualifications

• Fun, friendly, positive approach with ability to lead a small group of 3–6 children.
• Experience teaching in a paid early childhood setting for at least 1 year.
• Able to play piano or guitar and sing simple songs comfortably.
• Comfortable with movement and music; strong classroom management.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; follow written lesson plans.
• Musical theater background is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Create and follow a comprehensive curriculum using in-house programs after training.
• Manage small groups of 3–5 students in 30 minute classes, 2–3 weekdays per week; some weekend hours may apply.
• Follow specific lesson plans and incorporate games and crafts as appropriate.
• Communicate progress with parents during school visits.
• Collaborate with other school personnel to support the program.
• May deliver off-site early childhood programs with school administration or faculty.

We are seeking an energetic and experienced Music Teacher to add to their teaching experiences by joining our team in this Part Time position! You will be leading small groups (3-6 per class) of students ages 2-6, using innovative programs to engage very young children in one of our early childhood music programs.

You are a caring, fun person who is passionate about working with kids, and seeing them learn and develop new skills. You love music, and have some experience with music, although a degree in music is not required for this position. Highly organized, and with strong creative and problem-solving skills, you love connecting with individual students and creating an engaging class environment.

Responsibilities:

Create and follow a comprehensive curriculum, using in house trademarked or copyrighted programs, after detailed training.

Manage small groups of 3-5 students, in 30 minute classes, 2-3 weekdays each week, M--F , 3-6:30, PLUS Sats 9-3. Sun 2-6 may also be available in September.

Follow specific lesson plans, while using resources and creativity for games, and crafts projects on occasion.

Communicate effectively with parents, while at the school, on students' progress

Work with other school personnel to support this program.

May work off-site to deliver one or more early childhood programs, with school administration or other faculty.

Qualifications:

Experience working in a paid early childhood teaching capacity for at least 1 year.

Ability to play Piano or Guitar, and comfort singing simple songs.

Comfortable with movement and music.

Ability to follow written lesson plans, and execute them effectively.

Musical theater background a plus.
