Job summary

Boston School of Music Arts is seeking an energetic Music Teacher for a part-time role. You will lead small groups of 2-6 year olds in engaging music classes, following a curriculum and using in-house programs after training.

The ideal candidate loves working with kids, is organized, and can connect with individual students through creative activities. A degree in music is not required, but piano or guitar skills are needed, and Spanish/creole language skills are a plus.

Qualifications

  • Experience teaching in early childhood settings is preferred.
  • Ability to engage 2-6 year olds with interactive music activities.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Create and follow a comprehensive curriculum using in-house programs after training.
  • Lead small groups (3-6) in 30 minute classes, 2-3 weekdays, with weekend options.
  • Follow lesson plans, incorporate games and crafts, assess progress with parents.
  • Communicate with parents about student progress and collaborate with staff.
  • Potentially deliver programs off-site with school administration or other faculty.

We are seeking an energetic and experienced Music Teacher to add to their teaching experiences by joining our team in this Part Time position! You will be leading a class of students each year using innovative programs to engage very young children in one of our early childhood music programs.

We are seeking an energetic and experienced Music Teacher to add to their teaching experiences by joining our team in this Part Time position! You will be leading small groups (3-6 per class) of students ages 2-6, using innovative programs to engage very young children in one of our early childhood music programs.

You are a caring, fun person who is passionate about working with kids, and seeing them learn and develop new skills. You love music, and have some experience with music, although a degree in music is not required for this position. Highly organized, and with strong creative and problem-solving skills, you love connecting with individual students and creating an engaging class environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and follow a comprehensive curriculum, using in house trademarked or copyrighted programs, after detailed training.
  • Manage small groups of 3-5 students, in 30 minute classes, 2-3 weekdays each week, M--F , 3-6:30, PLUS Sats 9-3. Sun 2-6 may also be available in September.
  • Follow specific lesson plans, while using resources and creativity for games, and crafts projects on occasion.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, while at the school, on students' progress
  • Work with other school personnel to support this program.
  • May work off-site to deliver one or more early childhood programs, with school administration or other faculty.

Qualifications:

  • Fun, friendly, positive approach, with ability to control a small group of 3-6 kids effectively.
  • Experience working in a paid early childhood teaching capacity for at least 1 year.
  • Ability to play Piano or Guitar, and comfort singing simple songs.
  • Comfortable with movement and music.
  • Strong ability to manage groups of young students
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to follow written lesson plans, and execute them effectively.
  • Musical theater background a plus.
  • A Bachelors in Music or Musical Theater
  • Language fluency in Spanish, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, Vietnamese, in addition to English is a PLUS.
