Job summary

YMCA of Frederick County is seeking a seasonal Swim Instructor to lead lessons in accordance with National YMCA aquatic programs. You will prepare lesson plans, demonstrate strokes, and ensure a safe, welcoming environment for participants of all ages.

The role requires CPR/AED/First Aid certification, strong communication, and the ability to work with a diverse group of learners. Applicants must be 16+ and capable of YMCA Stage 4 swimming or higher; training provided after hire.

Qualifications

• CPR/AED/First Aid certification required (may be acquired after hire).
• At least 16 years of age.
• Ability to comprehend simple instructions and present information clearly.
• Ability to read and interpret policies and procedures; speak effectively in front of people.

Responsibilities

• Instructs assigned swim lessons per National YMCA guidelines.
• Demonstrates swimming skills and explains techniques to participants.
• Prepares and uses lesson plans as outlined.
• Maintains knowledge of current best practices in swim instruction.
• Responds to patron concerns promptly and appropriately.
• Reports incidents to Pool Manager/Aquatics Director.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings as needed.
• Follows all policies in Employee Handbook and Aquatics Procedural Handbook.
