Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is seeking a Wellness Coach to help members reach fitness and wellness goals by guiding them on equipment, basic programs, and available services. The role emphasizes a welcoming, safe environment for members of all levels.

You will lead by example, demonstrate proper equipment use, provide workout guidance, and refer members to wellness programs while collaborating with staff to ensure a positive member experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or related field preferred.
• Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications.
• Outgoing and personable with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate proper and safe use of fitness equipment.
• Provide basic workout guidance and assistance with fitness machines.
• Explain benefits of regular exercise and encourage participation in wellness programs.
• Orient and motivate members to participate in fitness evaluations and classes.
• Identify potentially dangerous situations and respond to maintain a safe environment.
• Provide information about schedules, programs, and facility services.
• Support members throughout their health and wellness journey.
• Collaborate with staff and assist in other areas as needed.

Position : Wellness Coach Salary : $18 .40 per hour

About the Job

The Wellness Coach supports members in reaching their fitness and wellness goals by providing guidance on exercise equipment, basic workout programs, and available wellness services. This position focuses on creating a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment for members at all fitness levels.
