Job summary

Interstate Waste Services is seeking a Yellow Iron Diesel Technician/Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment. The role mainly covers heavy diesel trucks and engines, with on-call support for emergencies.

The technician must operate the machinery being repaired and may travel to other sites for parts or breakdown support. The position requires a valid driver's license, at least 5 years of experience, and the

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of diesel mechanic experience.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL a plus.
• Experience with heavy equipment diagnostics and repairs.
• Experience with DOT and OSHA standards.
• Must be able to read and write English and provide own tools.
• Experience with diagnostic software such as Premium Tech Tool and OEM systems.
• Sanitation or construction industry experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical problems on heavy equipment including yellow iron machinery and diesel trucks.
• Perform repairs and preventative maintenance services; estimate time and parts.
• Document part usage and repairs in fleet maintenance software.
• Review Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports and assign/complete repairs as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area in line with OSHA standards and company protocols.
• Collaborate with other technicians; assist Sr. Technicians on projects and emergencies.
