Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a year-round Block Advisor (Tax Advisor) to prepare accurate returns for individual and business clients. You will interview clients to understand financial situations, provide personalized recommendations, and build lasting relationships while leveraging training and technology.

This in-person role focuses on delivering tax savings opportunities, staying compliant with IRS/state rules, and collaborating with your team to maintain a client-centric office environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping.
• Experience preparing complex individual returns and business returns, including tax planning and audit support.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to explain tax concepts clearly.
• Must meet IRS/state requirements and complete continuing education.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex situations (individual and business).
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand finances and tax implications, then provide personalized recommendations.
• Build year-round client relationships with empathetic, consultative service and identify tax savings opportunities.
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance as needed.
• Collaborate with team members to maintain a positive, client-focused office environment.
