A local hardware store in Etowah is seeking a dependable individual to drive a company truck for transporting materials. The role involves loading and unloading materials, assisting customers, and managing inventory in the yard. Drives company truck to transport materials to and from specified destinations.

Loads, unloads and moves materials in yard and on job site; handles paperwork with customers; assists customers and stocks merchandise in yard; inventories, stores, prices, loads, and restocks merchandise in yard by performing the following duties; must deal directly with customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Drives truck to destination; loads and unloads truck; inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water; positions blocks and ties around items to secure cargo during transit.

Reads tickets or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials to be moved/loaded; opens containers; loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand; loads materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit; cuts lumber, screening, glass, and related materials to size requested by customer; assists customer to load purchased materials into customer's vehicle; straightens materials to maintain safe and orderly conditions; covers exposed materials to prevent weather damage; takes inventory or examines merchandise to identify items to be replenished; receives, opens, and unpacks cartons or crates of merchandise, checking invoice against items received; stocks storage areas and displays with new or transferred merchandise; sweeps and cleans areas.
