Job summary

Lumber Mart, Inc. in East Grand Forks, MN is hiring a Yard/Warehouse Associate to ensure smooth yard and warehouse operations. The role pays $19-$25 per hour, based on experience, with hours Mon-Fri 7:30-5:30 and Saturdays on rotating schedule.

You’ll handle lumber, assist customers, and maintain a clean, safe work area. Day-to-day duties include receiving shipments, loading/unloading, organizing inventory, operating forklifts, cutting materials to length, and delivering orders.

Qualifications

• Experience in warehouse, construction, or lumber yard preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Basic math for measuring and cutting materials.
• Experience operating forklifts or willingness to obtain forklift certification.
• Strong communication and customer service orientation.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Organize and maintain inventory in the yard and warehouse, ensure accessibility and labeling.

• Cut lumber and other materials to specific lengths using saws or other tools as needed.
• Keep the yard and warehouse clean and organized, uphold safety protocols.
• Prepare orders for delivery to customers and construction sites.
• Collaborate with coworkers and supervisors for efficient workflow and service.
• Follow safety procedures to maintain a safe working environment.

About: Lumber Mart, Inc. is a full-service lumberyard, truss manufacturing operation, and hardware store that strives to provide the best in customer service.

Pay: $19-$25 depending on experience

Hours: Monday - Friday 7:30-5:30 (1 hour lunch)

Saturday 8:00 - 5:00 (1 hour lunch) (Saturdays on a rotating schedule)

As a Yard/Warehouse Associate at our lumber yard, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of our yard and warehouse. You will be responsible for handling lumber and building materials, assisting customers, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. This position requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellent customer service.

Responsibilities:

• Receive, inspect, and organize incoming shipments of lumber and building materials.
• Assist customers in loading and unloading materials, always providing exceptional service.
• Organize and maintain inventory in the yard and warehouse, ensuring materials are easily accessible and properly labeled.
• Operate forklifts and other equipment to move and store materials safely.
• Cut lumber and other materials to specific lengths using saws or other tools as needed.
• Keep the yard and warehouse clean and organized, including sweeping, disposing of debris, and maintaining safety protocols.
• Assist with assembling and preparing orders for delivery to customers and construction sites.
• Collaborate with coworkers and supervisors to ensure efficient workflow and excellent customer satisfaction.
• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a warehouse, construction, or lumber yard environment preferred.
• Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform physically demanding tasks in all weather conditions.
• Basic math skills and ability to accurately measure and cut materials.
• Experience operating forklifts or willingness to obtain forklift certification.
• Strong communication skills and a customer service-oriented attitude.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Attention to detail and organizational skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Forklift certification or experience operating other heavy machinery.
• Knowledge of lumber and building materials.
• Familiarity with inventory management systems.
• Experience with basic carpentry or construction tasks.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift heavy objects and perform tasks that involve bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
