Job summary

NewCold in Maryland is seeking a Yard Truck Operator to maneuver tractor trailers, load and unload products, and maintain safety and efficiency in the yard and dock area. You will work under DOT regulations, perform pre-trip inspections, drop and hook trailers, and coordinate with the yard management system.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience in related field.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Must be able to perform a DOT Pre-Trip inspection on Trailers.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and maneuverer equipment in the yard prior to dispatch and act in line with agreed procedures for ensuring quality of product is maintained at all times according to customer requirements.
• Ensure the safe movement of equipment around yard and warehouse through autonomous action to prevent accidents.
• Must be willing to work flexible hours.
• Maintain equipment while on site and track via the yard management system.
• Control product flow for the yard management system and implement remedial actions to maintain the flow of product.
• Drop and hook tractor to trailer.
• Inspect truck for defects, before and after trips and submit reports indicating truck condition.
• Coordinate equipment for maintenance and repair (must be able to perform light maintenance).
• Must be able to perform a DOT Pre-Trip inspection on Trailers.
• Ensure scheduled jobs are completed on time and correctly and that products are loaded, unloaded and stored in a timely manner in line with customer performance standards.
• Load and unload trucks & containers.
• Assist colleagues in carrying out tasks.
• Help maintain a clean and tidy work environment.
• Continuously look for areas of improvement.

Your role as a Yard Truck Operator

Key responsibilities:

Position Overview

The primary function of this position is to maneuver tractor trailers for the purpose of loading and unloading products while providing safety and security for the division yard and dock area. It is further required that above function be completed in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and relationships with NewCold customers through active communication.

Experience

Education/Certification
