Job summary

FedEx in Los Angeles is hiring a Yard Switcher/Package Handler to move trailers between yards and doors, and assist with loading and unloading packages as needed. You will coordinate with management, document moves, and perform routine safety inspections. Prior experience is a plus, but none is required.

The role includes physical work in a fast-paced environment, with shifts typically in the evening hours. Competitive hourly pay and benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• No education required.
• Six months of experience as a package handler or switching/CDL operator preferred.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a DOT file.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions and safety methods.
• Ability to sort packages by reading numbers and labels.

Responsibilities

• Move trailers between yard and doors as defined.
• Coordinate trailer movements with management.
• Document trailer moves in Yard Management System or switcher cards.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
• Load and unload packages, lifting and maneuvering for two to four hour shifts.
• Sort packages by conveyor system using labels and charts.
