Job summary

FedEx Corporation in Chicago seeks a dedicated Switcher/Package Handler to move trailers between yards and doors, assist with loading and unloading packages, and ensure accurate package sorting. You will operate with safety and efficiency, using yard equipment and scanners as needed.

We offer a day/night shift schedule (Wed-Sun) for full-time positions. No formal education required; six months experience preferred. Must have a valid driver’s license and DOT on file. E-Verify status applies.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education: None required
• No prior experience required; six months of package handling or switching/CDL operator experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Performs trailer switches by hooking and moving a parked trailer from yard to a load/unload door or from a door to the yard.
• Coordinates trailer movements with management/central control in the yard.
• Documents trailer moves using Yard Management System or switcher cards.
• Performs pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
• Handles packages using hand-to-surface methods and loads/unloads onto delivery vehicles, trailers, conveyor carts and load gratings.
