Qualifications

• No education required.
• No experience required; six months of experience preferred.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Maintain a Department of Transportation (DOT) file.
• Ability to understand numbers and sort packages correctly.
• Ability to use basic yard tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Move trailers between yard and doors and in the yard.
• Coordinate trailer movements with management and central control.
• Document trailer moves using Yard Management System or switcher cards.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
• Follow yard switching safety processes and procedures.
• Utilize hand-to-surface methods for package handling when required.
• Load and unload packages onto/from vehicles and sorting devices.
• Sort packages by scanning codes and labels as directed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
