Job summary

Federal Express Corporation is seeking a yard switcher to move trailers between yards and doors, perform loading/unloading by hand, and work safely in a fast-paced distribution environment in Maine.

No formal education required; a valid driver’s license and DOT file are needed. CDL-A is required to operate interstates. Compensation features hourly pay of $22.75–$24.25 with E-Verify participation and equal opportunity employment. 21+ years of age is expected.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a DOT file.
• CDL Class A to operate in interstate commerce is required.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions regarding work duties and safety methods.
• Ability to discern numbers and information to sort packages correctly.
• Ability to use basic tools and equipment such as skate wheel rollers, dock carts, hand-held scanners, chutes and unloading devices.

Responsibilities

• Moves trailers between yard and doors as defined; hooks and moves parked trailers.
• Coordinates trailer movements with management or central control.
• Documents trailer moves using Yard Management System or switcher cards.
• Performs pre- and post-trip checks on switcher equipment.
• Adheres to yard switching safety processes and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
