Job summary

Federal Express Corporation seeks individuals to manage trailer movements in the yard and perform loading/unloading tasks in a safe, efficient manner. You will coordinate with management to move trailers between yards and doors, and document actions using yard systems.

Position involves pre- and post-trip inspections, adherence to safety protocols, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment. CDL Class A is required for interstate operation and a valid DOT file must be maintained.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a DOT file.
• CDL Class A to operate in interstate commerce is required.
• Ability to follow work duties and safety methods.
• Ability to discern numbers to sort packages correctly.
• Ability to use basic tools and equipment such as skate wheel rollers, dock carts, hand-held scanners, chutes and unloading devices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; works well in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities

• Performs trailer switches moving a parked trailer from the yard to a load/unload door or from a door to the yard.
• Communicates with management/central control to coordinate trailer movements in the yard.
• Documents trailer moves using Yard Management System or switcher cards.
• Performs pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
• Understands and demonstrates effective yard switching safety processes and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
