Job summary

FedEx is seeking a Switcher/Package Handler to move trailers between yards and doors, coordinate with dispatch, and document movements. Responsibilities include pre/post-trip inspections and adherence to safety procedures in a fast-paced yard.

Role includes loading/unloading packages, sorting by labels, and operating hand-held scanners. Six months’ related experience preferred; a valid CDL is beneficial. E-Verify participation noted.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a DOT file.
• Six months of experience as a package handler or switching/CDL operator preferred.
• Ability to discern numbers and information to sort packages correctly.

Responsibilities

• Move and hook trailers between yard and doors as directed.
• Coordinate trailer movements with management or central control.
• Document trailer moves using Yard Management System or switcher cards.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
• Follow yard switching safety processes and procedures.
• Load and unload packages onto vehicles, trailers, carts and conveyors.
• Sort packages by scanning labels and reading numbers.
• Lift/carry/push/pull packages for 2–4 hour shifts.
• Operate dock carts, chutes and unloading devices; work in a fast-paced team.
