Job summary

Federal Express Corporation is seeking a full-time Package Handler/Switcher to move trailers, load and unload packages, and manage yard operations in Allen Township, PA.

The role involves coordinating with management, recording moves, performing vehicle inspections, and working in two shifts (midnight and sunrise). No education is required; six months of experience preferred; valid drivers license and a DOT file are required.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid drivers license and maintain a DOT file.
• Ability to understand and follow work duties and safety methods.
• Ability to discern numbers and information to sort packages correctly.
• Ability to use basic tools and equipment such as skate wheel rollers, dock carts, hand-held scanners and chutes.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities

• Move trailers between yard and doors; hook/mop trailers as needed.
• Coordinate trailer movements with management or central control.
• Document trailer moves using Yard Management System or switcher cards.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections on equipment.
• Handle packages using hand-to-surface methods and load/unload from vehicles.
• Sort packages by reading labels and charts; place on appropriate conveyors or carts.
