Job summary

FedEx is seeking a yard switcher/Package Handler in Crofton, Maryland. You will move trailers between yards and doors, assist with loading/unloading of packages, and coordinate movements with management to keep the yard running smoothly.

This role requires safety-minded teamwork, basic scanning tools, and the ability to read labels and numbers. No heavy experience required, but up to six months in related work is preferred; training provided.

Qualifications

• 6 months of experience as a package handler or switching/CDL operator preferred.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a DOT file.
• Ability to understand instructions and sort packages correctly.

Responsibilities

• Move trailers between yard and doors and cue switches.
• Coordinate trailer movements with management/central control.
• Document trailer moves using Yard Management System or switcher cards.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
• Load and unload packages onto/from vehicles and conveyors.
• Sort packages by scanning labels and numbers.
