Job summary

Proficient Auto Logistics is seeking a Yard Supervisor/Dispatcher to support contractors in the proper loading of vehicles, meet DOT and company standards, and manage yard inventory and damage processes.

You will reconcile yard inventory weekly, generate reports, and coordinate with the Terminal Manager to ensure freight is accounted for and shippable. Strong supervision, dispatch prioritization, and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Management or supervisory experience in auto transport preferred.
• Some dispatcher experience preferred.
• Ability to work weekends when necessary.
• Working knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook.

Responsibilities

Proficient Auto Logistics (PAL) is a leading specialized freight company focused on providing auto transportation and logistics services. Formed via IPO in May 2024, PAL combined five industry-leading operating companies and has since acquired a seventh. As a combined entity, we operate one of the largest auto transportation fleets in North America with over 1200 trucks, 50 terminal locations and 700 employees, a majority of whom are drivers.

Job Summary

The Yard Supervisor/Dispatcher is responsible for supporting contractors in the proper loading of vehicles, meeting DOT and Company standards; and implementation of yard inventory and damage management processes.

Responsibilities:

• Helps maintain safe working environment by reminding drivers of any yard safety concerns identified.
• Responsible for accurate reconciliation of yard inventory weekly; generates document trail through scanners or reports; coordinates reconciliation with the Terminal Manager to ensure freight is accounted for and shippable. Reports ALL results weekly
• Makes Identifying lost or damaged units a high priority daily; researches the magnitude of the issue and who is responsible timely; expedites the shipping of damaged/disabled freight
• Works with Terminal Manager to minimize aged freight; When aged freight materializes makes resolution a priority; works with outside carriers to ensure vehicle movement commitments are honored;
• Consistently follows Company dispatch priorities; builds loads accurately and timely to ensure efficient vehicle movement; applies good judgement in modifying equipment requirements based on available equipment
• Responds to customer inquiries in a professional and helpful manner; understands customer’s sense of urgency associated with the status of vehicle movement
• Responsible for mastering research and investigation techniques used to manage lost or damaged unit claim management; completes all forms and requests for information accurately and with detail
• Educate new drivers, contractors and sub-haulers on yard standard operating procedures as set forth by the railroad/port.
• Manages the terminal in the absence of the Terminal Manager and/or Assistant Terminal Manager.
• Other duties as required

Required Physical Abilities, Experience and Education:

• Physical agility to include, but may not be limited to, walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, lifting – up to 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, stretching and balancing
• Visual acuity, including but may not be limited to, close up and distance, peripheral sight, ability to discern color
• Work effectively in an environment with potential loud noise, extreme heat or cold
• Ability to work around fumes and petroleum products
• High school graduate or equivalent
• Management experience in the auto transport industry preferred
• Must be able to work weekends when necessary.
• Must be able to climb/no fear of heights and work in all types of weather.
• Some dispatch experience preferred
• Working knowledge of computers and software to include Word, Excel and Outlook
• Excellent management, supervisory and leadership skills
• Ability to effectively manage time and priorities
• Effective oral and written communication
