Responsibilities

Responsibilities
The Production Yard/Labor Supervisor leads crews responsible for housekeeping, material handling, and yard maintenance activities that support safe and efficient cement plant operations. This role ensures work is completed safely, maintains high operational standards, and contributes to overall plant reliability and appearance.
  • Ensure strict compliance with plant safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including LOTOTO, traffic control, PPE, and other safe work practices for all yard personnel.
  • Supervise daily yard operations to ensure the safe and efficient handling, movement, and storage of raw materials, fuels, clinker, and finished products.
  • Plan and coordinate yard equipment activities, including loaders, dozers, haul trucks, vacuum trucks, skid steers and conveyors, to support production and shipping schedules.
  • Monitor material stockpiles, blending, and inventory levels to ensure proper material flow to and from the production process.
  • Conduct routine inspections of mobile equipment and yard areas to identify maintenance needs, hazards, or operational inefficiencies.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, and quality teams to coordinate material supply, repairs, and equipment availability.
  • Lead and train yard personnel in safe equipment operation, housekeeping, and compliance with plant policies and environmental regulations.
  • Coordinate plans and allocate resources to maintain high standards of plant housekeeping; ensure chronic issues are identified, addressed promptly, and resolved with sustainable solutions.
  • Maintain accurate records of material movement, equipment hours, inspections, and fuel consumption.
  • Assist in budgeting, resource planning, and cost control efforts related to yard operations and maintenance activities.
  • Participate in safety meetings as a member of the Joint H&S Committee, performance reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and reliability.
Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • This is a safety-sensitive position requiring compliance with all company safety policies, MSHA/OSHA regulations, and applicable drug and alcohol testing requirements.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in yard operations, quarry operations, material handling, or a related heavy industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment operation, maintenance practices, and industrial safety requirements.
  • Strong leadership experience supervising, training, and developing employees in a production, yard, or industrial setting.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and other schedules as required to support operational needs.
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Industrial Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience supervising heavy equipment operators, labor crews, and material handling operations required.
  • Experience in cement, mining, quarrying, aggregates, or heavy manufacturing environments preferred.

  • Familiarity with maintenance work management systems, purchasing and procurement processes, and operational reporting tools.
  • Understanding of material handling systems, yard operations, equipment utilization, and facility maintenance practices.
  • Experience monitoring operational performance metrics and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
