Job summary

Allied Fence, serving Metro Atlanta, seeks a Yard Supervisor to lead yard operations at our two showroom locations. The role focuses on supervising staff, coordinating inbound and outbound shipments, and maintaining a safe, organized yard.

You will manage inventory, assign tasks, and ensure loading/unloading of trucks while upholding safety standards and a collaborative culture. This position supports long-term growth in a fast-paced yard environment.

Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience in a building materials yard, warehouse, or distribution environment.
  • Acute attention to accuracy and details.
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Bilingual (Spanish and English) a plus.
  • Ability to train, coach, and develop yard team members to meet operational standards.
  • Strong working knowledge of building materials, construction supply products, and safe handling practices.
  • Ability to foster a respectful and collaborative team environment that prioritizes safety, accountability, and service.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team while holding employees accountable to safety and operation standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee general yard work and supervise daily tasks.
  • Coordinate daily tasks according to priorities and plans, adjusting for weather, supply, and personnel.
  • Manage an accurate inventory and complete regular inventory activities.
  • Delegate tasks to crew members and monitor performance.
  • Monitor productivity and adherence to procedures.
  • Ensure proper storage, rotation, and handling of inventory.
  • Oversee loading and unloading of trucks and staging materials for installation crews.
  • Promote safety and train staff on proper equipment use.
  • Resolve yard-related service issues and maintain a clean, hazard-free environment.
  • Support and build a unified company culture and participate in safety meetings.

The Yard Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing the operations of a company’s yard, including supervising staff, coordinating inbound and outbound shipments, and ensuring the safety and organization of the yard. This role actively works in the yard doing a variety of daily manual duties including but not limited to moving materials, organizing materials, loading and unloading trucks, and maintenance work. They are key in ensuring efficient movement of materials and equipment, dispatching, maintaining a clean and safe working environment, and adhering to company policies and safety regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Any and all general yard work, both organizational and manual in nature
  • Coordinating daily tasks according to priorities and plans, making changes when necessary due to weather, supply, delivery, and personnel
  • Managing an accurate inventory and completing daily/weekly/monthly/yearly inventory management activities
  • Delegating individual responsibilities and projects to crew members
  • Monitoring productivity, accuracy, and adherence to procedures
  • Ensuring proper storage, rotation, and handling of inventory to prevent damage and maintain accessibility
  • Overseeing and completing timely and accurate loading and unloading of trucks, and staging materials for installation crews
  • Leading by example in maintaining a clean, hazard-free yard and safe equipment operation
  • Ensuring team members are properly trained and certified to operate equipment
  • Responding to accidents or near misses in accordance with company incident procedures
  • Emphasizing safe use of tools, machinery and equipment while providing training on safety gear and procedures
  • Serving as a key point of contact for resolving yard-related service issues
  • Supporting and building unified company culture
  • Maintaining a safe work environment
  • Performing job functions safely at all times
  • Participating in all safety meetings
  • Communicating all concerns or violations to appropriate manager(s) immediately
  • Using the proper personal protective equipment when performing work duties (e.g., appropriate shoes, glasses, gloves, ear protection)

  • Abiding by all local, state, and federal laws; reading, understanding, and agreeing to follow the policies outlined in the Company Safety Manual and Company Handbook
  • Demonstrating behaviors aligned with the company’s core values at all times
  • Assisting in driving a continuous improvement strategy within the business to result in ongoing incremental gains in quality and efficiency
  • Performing other related duties as assigned

Licenses and Certification Requirements
  • Valid driver’s license required with a clean driving record
