Job summary

Pratt Industries in Kalamazoo, MI is seeking a Dock/yard Operator to move trailers safely on and off the dock and maintain orderly yard operations.

You will inspect arriving trailers, perform pre-shift checks on yard spotter trucks, and follow all safety policies. Night and weekend shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent (additional experience may be substituted for education).
• Valid Driver License.
• Six months of experience operating machinery.
• Must pass drug screen and background check to be hired.
• Willing to travel and work nights and weekends when required.

Position Summary

Responsible for moving trailers on and off the dock safely.

Essential Functions/Position Responsibilities

• Keeping the storage yard organized.
• Inspecting trailers when arrive on the yard.
• Pre shift inspection on yard spotter truck.
• Follow all company Safety policies and policies per Employee Handbook & Code of Conduct
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Hiring Requirements/Preferences

• High school education or equivalent (additional experience may be substituted for education)
• Valid Driver License

Minimum Of Six (6) Months Experience Operating Machinery

• Must have a demonstrated ability to follow directions
• Professional Attitude & conduct
• Multi-task, interpersonal communication, problem solving, and time management skills are needed.

• Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times.
• Willing to travel and work away from home when and if required.

• Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co–workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
• Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by PRATT Safety and OSHA.
• Be at least age 18 years of age due to nature of working environment.
• You will be expected to be flexible to the needs of our business, as we continually strive to meet and exceed the needs of our customers.
• Random and Suspicion Drug tests are performed
