Job summary

Prime Metal Buildings & Components is seeking a Yard Hand to support day-to-day operations in our retail shop and steel yard. You will assist with loading, unloading, and transporting materials, while supporting operators, drivers, and teammates to keep the yard clean and safe.

The role emphasizes following safety procedures, using PPE, and staying proactive in supporting various shop tasks. A team-oriented attitude and reliability are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Positive attitude and desire to work as a team player.
• Ability for cross training in other areas of the shop.
• Follow safety procedures including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in loading and unloading material from machines.
• Assist operators and drivers in the retail shop/ store and yard.
• Handle and transport materials and equipment within the facility.
• Use power tools and machinery when needed.
• Set out or put away tools when needed.
• Clean up store and yard free of debris, dirt, and hazardous material.
• Follow instructions from supervisors to perform tasks.
• Report issues with equipment or unsafe conditions.
