Job summary

Interco is seeking a Yard Supervisor to oversee daily operations of a busy industrial yard in Illinois. You will coordinate material flow, staging and movement of trailers, and supervise yard staff to ensure safe, efficient operations.

Responsibilities include directing forklift and equipment usage, maintaining organized locations, enforcing safety policies, and collaborating with management to resolve issues and improve productivity. Experience in scrap/recycling is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a scrap metal, recycling, manufacturing, and/or warehousing environment.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a supervisory role.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing concepts is a plus.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operation and organization of the assigned yard.
• Manage material flow, staging, loading, and movement throughout the yard.
• Assign and coordinate staff and equipment to meet daily objectives.
• Direct safe use of forklifts, loaders, trucks and trailers.
• Maintain organized material locations and clear paths.
• Monitor yard conditions for safety hazards and maintenance needs.
• Train and evaluate yard employees and equipment operators.
• Coordinate yard activities with management to prevent bottlenecks.
• Identify improvements to layout, workflow, and productivity.
• Oversee trailer/container movement and loading priorities.
