Job summary

Cargomatic is seeking a highly organized Yard Manager to oversee daily yard operations, driver dispatch, freight tracking, and customer communication in Jacksonville, FL. You will ensure safety, layout efficiency, and accurate data across loads and equipment while coordinating with drivers and terminals.

The role requires hands-on logistics knowledge, strong problem-solving under pressure, and a commitment to safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Must have extensive experience in transportation, logistics, dispatch, freight, and yard operations.
• Valid CDL and current DOT Physical card.
• Strong computer proficiency with data-entry accuracy and ability to learn new TMS, GPS, and tracking tools.
• Proven ability to manage multiple drivers, loads, and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Outstanding communication, organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Willingness to work flexible hours or shifts to meet operational demands.

Responsibilities

• Yard Management: oversee daily yard activity to maintain an organized, safe, and efficient layout, coordinate equipment positioning and inventory records.
• Freight Coordination & Dispatch: dispatch drivers, assign loads based on availability, HOS, and customer needs; prioritize shipments and provide clear instructions.
• Tracking & Data Accuracy: monitor loads and drivers in real time; maintain logs in the Transportation Management System (TMS).
• Communication & Customer Service: act as central liaison between drivers, dispatch, yard crews, terminals, warehouses, and customers; provide status updates.
• Safety & Compliance: enforce safety policies and ensure proper incident reporting and regulatory documentation.
• Performance Expectations: maintain timelines, ensure accurate tracking, keep a clean yard, and maximize driver utilization.
