Job summary

Cargomatic is seeking a Yard Manager in Jacksonville to oversee daily yard operations, driver dispatch, and freight tracking. You will be the hub of operational workflows, ensuring a safe yard, efficient load dispatch, and precise tracking from origin to destination.

The ideal candidate will have CDL, strong logistics knowledge, and the ability to coordinate with drivers, terminals, and customers in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Must have extensive experience in transportation, logistics, dispatch, freight, and yard operations.
• Valid CDL and current DOT Physical card is required.
• Strong computer proficiency with data-entry accuracy and the ability to learn new TMS, GPS, and tracking tools.
• Proven ability to manage multiple drivers, loads, and changing priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Must have outstanding communication, organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Willingness to work flexible hours or shifts to meet operational demands.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily yard activity to maintain an organized, safe, clean, and efficient yard layout.
• Coordinate staging, parking, movement, and positioning of containers, chassis, trailers, and yard equipment.
• Maintain real-time records of equipment and assets in the yard.
• Identify shortages or excess inventory and coordinate with drivers, terminals, and customers.
• Ensure equipment inspections and report damaged or unsafe units.
• Dispatch drivers and assign loads based on equipment, location, and deadlines.
• Provide clear pickup and delivery instructions to drivers.
• Monitor driver progress and adjust assignments as conditions change.
• Maintain accurate logs in the Transportation Management System (TMS).
• Track active loads, drivers, and containers for real-time updates.
