A local scrap metal yard is seeking a Yard Laborer to maintain and organize the construction yard. Responsibilities include operating power equipment, keeping the yard clean, and conducting inventory. The candidate must have a valid driver’s license and be physically capable of lifting heavy objects. This role requires outdoor work in varying weather conditions.

Formación

Overview

Yard Laborer - GLE Scrap Metal. Location: Casselberry, FL and surrounding areas (Holly Hill, Opa-locka, Warren, Melvindale). This role involves general maintenance, organization, and inventory of materials for the construction yard located at the main office.

Responsibilities

• Keep yard clean and organized
• Operate power equipment such as mowers, line trimmers, chainsaws, etc.
• Raking, weeding, hauling debris, pruning, and application of lawn amendments
• Maintain a clean work environment; take initiative to keep the yard properly maintained
• Understand the purpose of different materials and the layout of the yard
• Unload, receive, and inventory scheduled deliveries and materials brought back from job site cleanups
• Conduct a weekly inventory of yard items to ensure correct material levels and identify items to reorder
• Monitor construction debris trash
• Refuel and re-grease equipment at the end of each day to ensure proper upkeep and longevity
• Clean and repair yard equipment, vehicles, and yard property and structures as needed
• Assist customers and contractors
• Prepare job sites to eliminate potential hazards
• Control traffic near, in, or around work zones

Requirements

• Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
• HS Diploma or equivalent
• Physical ability to lift heavy objects (up to 75 pounds) and perform other physical activities for extended periods
• Ability to work outdoors with exposure to sun and varying weather
• Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening
