Job summary

Paul’s Auto Yard in Gary, IN is seeking a Yard Laborer to join our salvage yard team. You will sort and process materials, help maintain inventory records, and support all departments while upholding safety standards.

This is an hourly, non-exempt position reporting to the Yard Manager. Responsibilities include maintaining equipment and facilities, assisting with regulatory compliance, and providing cross-departmental support in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in a salvage yard or similar environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sort and process materials (ferrous, nonferrous, tires, batteries).
• Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records and tracking movement of materials.
• Maintain equipment and facilities; perform basic maintenance and cleaning.
• Provide support to all departments as needed.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal salvage yard regulations.

Summary/objective

Job Description

Essential Functions

• Sort and process materials, including but not limited to ferrous, nonferrous, tires, and batteries
• Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records and tracking the movement of materials
• Maintain equipment and facilities, including basic maintenance tasks and cleaning
• Provide support to all departments as needed
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding salvage yard operations
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment
• Perform other duties as assigned by management
